Picture It New!

Thank you to all those who submitted entries to the Picture It New! photography contest. The last day for submissions was Monday, August 31, 2009. We are no longer accepting entries.

Take this opportunity to be recognized for your creativity! The SMG-Tulsa Convention Center is accepting submissions for photographs to be wrapped on five doors located in the Convention Center Arena Concourse. This contest is designed to give artists of all skills levels the chance to be acknowledged for years. There is no fee for entry and applicants will compete for a prize. Be proud of Tulsa and your creativity. Photos must be submitted on the Tulsa Convention Center website. Rules of entry are below.

Eligibility:
Photographs must be of scenes or objects in Tulsa. No photos of food or people please. We are wrapping 15 doors in the Arena Concourse with the following photos. So get creative and show us what else our great city has to offer.

•  Indian Ballerina with Williams Tower in background
•  Boston Avenue Methodist Church
•  Sea lion at Tulsa Zoo
•  Gilcrease Museum
•  Golden Driller
•  Woodward Park
•  Tulsa Skyline
•  Oklahoma Aquarium Building
•  Art Deco Warehouse Market
•  Southern Hills Country Club
The photos must be in 4-color with a vertical orientation. The dimensions of the doors the photos will be wrapped onto are 36 by 84 inches. All photos must be the original work of the applicant. Submissions must be submitted in a JPEG or TIF format. Only electronic entries will be accepted. Photographs may not be mailed to or dropped off at the Tulsa Convention Center.
SMG employees and their families are not eligible to enter.


Registration:
Photographs must be submitted through the Tulsa Convention Center website here. Photos must be submitted in a JPEG or TIF format and no larger than 5 MB.  Submissions will be displayed on the Center’s website.

Deadline:
Contest begins June 8, 2009 and submissions will be accepted through August 31, 2009.

Classifications:
Photographs will be judged in the classification of the photographer’s selection; however, the contest judges will make the final determination in some cases.

 Adult
Amateur- a person with little or no experience
Intermediate- a person with some experience, beginning photography students, etc.
Professional- a person with serious art training, or employed in a photography-related job

 Youth
Youth under 12 years of age
Youth 12-18 years of age

Judging:
Submissions will be judged by 3 persons chosen by the Convention Center. Judges will choose one winner in each of the five categories listed above.

Prizes and Awards:
Each applicant will receive a certificate for entering the contest. The winner in each of the five categories listed above will receive the following:
• Photograph and name of artist on one of the doors (if desired) in the Tulsa Convention Center Arena Concourse. Doors will be designated by the Convention Center management.
• Use of the Arena Board Room for up to 20 people with soft drinks, popcorn and tickets to one event of the Convention Center’s choice.


Unveiling:
A reception and presentation of awards will be held at the Tulsa Convention Center in fall 2009. Applicants and winners will be notified of unveiling date and time.

Preparing Entries:
Entries must be submitted through the Tulsa Convention Center website. Photos must be in a JPEG or TIF format and no larger than 5MB. Entries are limited to 2 photographs per person. Submission of more than 2 photographs constitutes disqualification. Entries must include the following information on the artist and their photo(s):

General Rules:
The Tulsa Convention Center reserves the right to disqualify entries they consider to be unacceptable or inappropriate for public exhibit.
The entering of photos in this contest constitutes an agreement on the part of the applicant with conditions herein set forth. The SMG-Tulsa Convention Center reserves the right to publish for publicity purposes the entries in any format or medium. The Tulsa Convention Center is a public facility and photographing/filming of the entries is allowed as well as free use on Convention Center’s website, printed material or other promotional uses.
